Novel noble-metal-free ceramic filter with controlled pore structure for environmental cleaning

Abstract We previously reported the complete decomposition of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) on hydroxyapatite (HAp) powder and initially demonstrated catalytic reaction mechanism, which makes HAp most promising alternative to conventional noble-metal nanoparticle catalysts for control VOC emission environmental cleaning. To further practical application previous study, we fabricated porous via facile gel-casting assisted direct forming with aim developing a new type ceramic filter. The structural features pore, such as pore size porosity, are selectively controlled by altering amount surfactant added time. resultant was successfully applied catalyst filter exhibited performance that comparable powder. In addition, correlation between structure tailored gas permeability filters also investigated in depth.
